Papatoetoe Deepavali Festival of Lights 2016
The Deepavali festival of lights 2016 was celebrated on the 14th of October by the community at large with lots of entertainment, fun, food and soft drinks. this was all provided by the Hindu heritage research foundation. Some of the funds came from the Otara Papatoetoe local board. Our elected Board members were all present to say a thank you to the people who had voted for them in this election.
The Actual Deepavali in New Zealand was on the 30th of October. The Heritage celebrates the Deepavali prior to this date to have every one in the community participate and have a feeling of how the hindus Celebrate the yearly festival of lights.
In this occasion the Swamiji HH Pujya Muniji Maharaj Swami Chida Nand Saraswati sent greetings to all which he sends every year. His worship Bhaiji Shree Ramesh Bhai Oza sent his blessings from Sandipani.
We all are blessed by the divine grace of all our saints and great people.
A prosperous Deepavali and New year to all of the souls.

Papatoetoe Deepavali Festival Of Lights – 2013
The Deepavali festival of lights was hosted by the Papatoetoe Fiji Indian Youth Group. This was held at the 35 St. George street in Papatoetoe inside the Town hall. We had about 350 people attending the Festival and enjoying the evening full of action.
The Auckland city Council creative Communities South supported the festival and also the BNZ Bank Papatoetoe had given the support for the Celebration. The High Fijian Commissioner to New Zealand Ms. Mere tora was the Chief guest at the ceremony and she was accorded the full Fijian welcome and Kava ceremony. She emphasized mostly on the ties of Fiji and New Zealand. Hon.
Ross Robertson of Labour party and Kanwal Jeet Singh Bakshi of national party were also along our guests who were honored on the stage with a few words of Deepawali greetings. A mixture of Island dances were performed by well known artists.
Our thanks to the people who has assisted in any way to make this Festival of lights a successful one. looking forward for another success Deepavali next year.
