Papatoetoe Deepavali Festival of Lights 2013

The Deep­avali fes­ti­val of lights was hosted by the Pap­a­toe­toe Fiji Indian Youth Group. This was held at the 35 St. George street in Pap­a­toe­toe inside the Town hall. We had about 350 peo­ple attend­ing the Fes­ti­val and enjoy­ing the evening full of action.

The Auck­land city Coun­cil cre­ative Com­mu­ni­ties South sup­ported the fes­ti­val and also the BNZ Bank Pap­a­toe­toe had given the sup­port for the Cel­e­bra­tion. The High Fijian Com­mis­sioner to New Zealand Ms. Mere tora was the Chief guest at the cer­e­mony and she was accorded the full Fijian wel­come and Kava cer­e­mony. She empha­sized mostly on the ties of Fiji and New Zealand. Hon.

Ross Robert­son of Labour party and Kan­wal Jeet Singh Bak­shi of national party were also along our guests who were hon­ored on the stage with a few words of Deep­awali greet­ings. A mix­ture of Island dances were per­formed by well known artists.

Our thanks to the peo­ple who has assisted in any way to make this Fes­ti­val of lights a suc­cess­ful one. look­ing for­ward for another suc­cess Deep­avali next year.
