The Shiv Shakti Moth­ers’ Club was found in 2008 by Mor­ganan, while work­ing with the Hindu Her­itage Research Foundation(NZ) and Shak­ila Devi Mor­ganan to edu­cate women as how to nur­ture their fam­i­lies and keep them healthy, happy and a lov­ing and car­ing fam­ily. Shak­ila has eight years of expe­ri­ence as a pres­i­dent of Shakti Women’s Club in Ba-Fiji.

The Club had 4 mem­bers and today it has eight mem­bers. The seat­ing is done every two weekly at the secretary’s res­i­dence. They do prayers, sing hymns and do other activ­i­ties as nec­es­sary to revive the lost skills. Thus they also have tea & snack time together and enjoy what they do. They also raise funds for fam­i­lies who are in poverty and need assistance.

The club gives loans on a very small inter­est and the inter­ests earned is used to assist the fam­i­lies in need. New mem­bers are selected by their panel and then given approval by the Com­mit­tee mem­bers and are on trial for one year. The mem­ber fee is $15.00 and is non refundable.

The club also vis­its the member’s fam­i­lies who have a death in the fam­ily and they assist the fam­ily in grief by any means to the fam­ily. The club mostly tries to edu­cate the mem­bers and their imme­di­ate fam­i­lies to fol­low and keep up with the cul­ture and tra­di­tion. This mostly keeps the fam­i­lies united and out of crimes.
